Setting the Bar High…. By Redesigning Your Floors

You’ve likely read and heard more advice regarding how painting your walls can create an entirely new feel for a room than you ever needed. However, keeping with the spirt of changing surfaces to make a room appear different, this article will focus on things you can accomplish by simply altering your floor (which could be a wall depending on your perspective… and assuming gravity wasn’t a thing).

According to Pinterest, modifying your floor is one of the hot design trends this year; we think Pinterest is a good measure of what’s in style, you’re free to disagree). A fresh design on the floor accomplishes an identical function to an accent wall and is just trendy enough to get house guests talking.

Stencils Aren’t Just for Children Anymore

While we don’t like to acknowledge it, home décor is ,limited by our finances; things like stone, ceramic, and porcelain look great, but cost a bundle. Luckily, stencils are an incredibly cheap alternative way to make your floor “pop.” What’s best is this is 100% a DIY project, so get as creative as you want! A stencil design can really change the tone of a room, and did we mention how little it costs?

Glaze Isn’t Just for Donuts Either

Many people steer clear of “big” colors when redoing their floors with glaze, but that’s missing a huge opportunity; the right color will bring a room together, based on its color scheme – “big” colors follow this rule as well; don’t be afraid to be adventurous.

Parquet, All the Way

In the 1960s, parquet was kind of a big deal. Parquet, of course, is a floor that is created by combining several small pieces of wood in geometric, pleasing, patterns; it’s ok if you didn’t know what parquet was, this author didn’t either. Rather than go with “big” colors for a parquet redesign, stick with the “in” color schemes of gray and black for this project.

At the Chernov Team we understand knowledge is power, even when that knowledge pertains to popular design trends. Having a trendy house absolutely increases its ability to sell, as many people are looking for a “hip” home, where their dinner parties can be the talk of the town. At the Chernov Team we know whoever comes to the table most prepared leaves with the most, and the Chernov Team always leaves the table with the most.
