Keeping Up With the Jones’: Organic Modern Design and You

The new trend in modern home décor is known as “organic modern” and appears to quickly be replacing the boho chic trend. Organic modern focuses on creating a lightweight aesthetic, effortlessly blending a focus on natural design, modern design, and a small dose of Scandinavian design. This article will briefly discuss elements of organic modern design, and how you can quickly incorporate this season’s design trends into your home.

Organic modern represents the next step in design, synthesizing various looks from some of the most popular design trends over the past few years. To keep it simple, organic modern is the next logical step in the concept of “continuity” and focuses on making the home as though it were in harmony with the surrounding landscape; this is in stark contrast to modern designs which aim to make the home stand out from the natural beauty surrounding it.

The first thing you will want to do, if you intend to adopt an organic modern design in your home, is to switch your color schemes to something slightly more neutral than you are used to; white, beige, and grey typically work great. If you must include bright colors, relegate them to small accent items like rugs and throw pillows. Additionally, since the focus is minimalist to a degree, is to reduce the amount of clutter in your rooms.

The second thing you will want to do, since the goal of modern organic is to appear… organic, is to decorate your rooms with “natural” looking items; sheepskin rugs or cowhide rugs ought to do the trick. Further, try to obtain items made of natural materials such as stone or wood. Finally, living plants will go a long way to blending the inside of your home with the nature outside your home.

At the Chernov Team, we understand that knowledge is power. Having a home that incorporates modern design trends increases your ability to sell your house, as a “modern” design is appealing to more potential home buyers. At the Chernov Team we know that whoever comes to the table most prepared leaves with the most, and the Chernov Team always leaves the table with the most.
