Scary Good Fun

It’s October and Halloween is just around the corner. Here are 5 ghoulishly good things to see, eat, and do in Los Angeles.

It’s the Halloween season and nothing screams terror like Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. Universal Studios Hollywood is one of Los Angeles’s most well-known attractions. Known for its ability to audiences into the world of popular films and movies, it does just the same during Horror Nights. From classic horror movie monsters to modern-day nightmares, Horror Nights brings the spine-tingling terrors from the darkest corners of our imaginations to life. Blood-curdling shrieks and the echoing revs of chainsaws, Horror Nights is sure to leave you running for your life.

Looking to watch Night of the Living Dead with the dead? Cinespia does it once again, screening the rarely seen restoration of George Romero’s 1968 classic in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 21st. Known for popularizing the zombie genre, as well as introducing other hallmarks to the classic horror movie genre, Romero’s Night of the Living Dead won’t just be another “zombie movie,” especially considering the fact that you might be joined by the dead themselves.

Family-friendly, all ages welcome, is known for its ability to transform into a fall wonderland. From the last day of September to 31st of October, Underwood Family celebrates its annual Fall Harvest Festival. Events differ every weekend and for the entire month of October, guests can delight in an infinite supply of pumpkins, a two-and-a-half-acre corn maze, a mini corn maze, animal shows, and live music.

Nothing like a fun ride around a pumpkin patch, the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is bound to keep you up at night. The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is a tractor-pulled hay wagon ride through the woods of Griffith Park’s Old Zoo, chalk full of demon-possessed clowns and life-sized sets and scare zones, as well as a corn maze in the middle of the ride. General admission also includes access to other attractions as well including this year’s Purgatory, Trick or Treat, and House of Shadows.

For those who seek the best of both worlds, Creep L.A: Lore will do so. Teaming up with Amazon Prime Video, Just Fix It Productions, the minds behind the Willows team and Creep L.A., came up with “Lore,” a twisted, unnerving, and beautifully grisly walk-through and interactive experience based on Aaron Mahnke’s podcast regarding the dark, unsettling history and origins of today’s horror folklore and legend. In groups of eight, guests will be guided through this one-hour, multi-sensory journey through an in-depth environment of horrifying scenarios and gruesome encounters.
