A Resurgence in COVID-19 Does Not Mean It’s a Bad Time to Sell, Inventory is Down, Prices Are Up, and Sellers Are Coming Out on Top

An unfortunate reality is that once California started easing restrictions, a lot of Californians forgot that we were in the midst of a pandemic; they went to social gatherings and generally discounted the reality that we currently live in. As a result, California is seeing a significant surge in COVID-19 cases and related hospitalizations. As such, many of the questions that permeated would-be seller’s minds are just as relevant today as they were three months ago.
To answer the burning question on sellers’ minds, yes you can sell your home right now. That comes with a caveat, only use agents who you trust to be responsible in these frightening times. Despite the resurgence of COVID-19, there are many less-than-informed agents out there who think it is no longer necessary to take precautions; talk with your agent until you are confident, they understand the gravity of the situation. Once you have found the right agent, the Chernov Team has a proven track record of keeping their clients safe, now is a particularly good time to sell. Inventory is down, there are multiple waves of buyers on the market (many buyers delayed their search for homes during the virus, so there is higher demand now), and that only drives housing prices up.
You might ask yourself, and reasonably so, “are people even looking to buy houses now?” This is a reasonable question, a lot of would-be-buyers abruptly stopped searching for homes when COVID began, and many are likely to do so again in the face of the imprudent-behavior-driven resurgence. However, there is still a larger-than-normal demand for houses on the market right now, and that bodes well for the cautious seller.
Another question you might ask is “given the resurgence in the virus, wouldn’t it be wise to only allow virtual tours of my house?” The answer is yes, and this is why the right real estate agent is essential. While virtual tours are a relatively new phenomenon, there are some agents who have figured out how to do them better than others. That knowledge is, in large part, based on how many transactions that agent (and his team) have conducted; an agent who has sold hundreds of houses is more likely to know what potential buyers want to see than someone who has sold one. Moreover, a significant amount of data-driven analysis is being produced, which provides agents who have a zest for learning with empirical data and what types of virtual tours succeed and which don’t. At the Chernov Team we have sold hundreds of homes and we have a zest for staying on top of all housing-related trends. In short, the Chernov Team is likely to create a virtual tour with the highest chance of eliciting an offer.
At the Chernov Team we understand that knowledge is power, particularly in an era where people’s heedless conduct has once again thrust us into an unknown environment, and knowledge of how to sell a house during these times is powerful knowledge indeed. At the Chernov Team we know that whoever comes to the table most prepared leaves with the most, and the Chernov always leaves the table (while wearing a mask) with the most.
