Lana Del Ray: Singer and Real Estate Mogul?

At the Chernov Team, we primarily focus on the Studio City, Sherman Oaks, and Encino neighborhoods, but also like to stay current on all things real estate both locally and nationally. If we’re being entirely honest, we also like our celebrity news; we are from Los Angeles after all. Recently, Lana Del Ray purchased a cabin in the Echo Park area for roughly $1.2M (significantly above the $1M asking price, which tells us she really wanted that cabin).

Rumor has it that Lana Del Ray is not only a force to be reckoned with when singing, but that she has a keen eye for excellent properties; She has recently purchased a home in Malibu (recently sold) Windsor Square, and two homes next door to each other in Studio City.

It appears that the Echo Park house received individual attention from Leanne Ford of HGTV’s “Restored by the Fords,” who purchased the cabin for $800k in 2018 (a very nice turn around for a short-term investment). Rumor has it that Ms. Ford sold the home to work on her greatest project to date – a child (Ms. Ford has announced that she is pregnant).

In Ms. Ford’s blog, she stated, “After much deliberation and thankfully no tears we decided to sell our little Echo Park love shack. Once we found out about the sweet bun in the oven we realized this is more about wine bottles than baby bottles. So, it’s time to pass it on. Who’s the lucky buyer? And can we come over for dinner?” Invite the lady to dinner and invite the Chernov Team as well Lana – please.

This cabin appears to have quite the history with local celebrities, having been one of the first homes to be built in Echo Park, and was first occupied by Clara Kimball Young, the silent movie star.

The 1500 square foot cabin, boasting 2 bedrooms and 1 darling bath, has a rustic look, and is located in a small forest, of small trees. The cabin’s living room boasts a malm fireplace, and plenty of space for family and friends to gather. The large, remodeled, kitchen is made to appear even larger with several windows around the room. The cabin also houses an office, that is also made to appear even larger with the use of numerous windows; what better view to have while plugging away at your work than a beautiful landscape of trees and flowers?

At the Chernov Team we enjoy all things real estate, as well as helping our readers understand the nuances of the housing market. However, we are not above celebrity gossip, particularly where it involves real estate. Who says you can’t love what you do?
