Increasing Curbside Appeal During the Summer

With the summer approaching, new ways to increase your curbside appeal present themselves. Simple upgrades like these may just be what catches the attention of the person buying your home. Here are some easy ways to get people looking at your home while passing by as we get closer to summer.

As time passes, rain, wind, and other elements cause dirt to pile up on your driveway, causing your home to look dirty and unappealing. While you may be able to clean it using a hose and a broom, a power washer is the best way to get a thorough cleaning. Buying or simply renting one will be very worth the money. A thorough cleaning will get your home looking rejuvenated and fresh. It is best to avoid using the pressure washer on your actual home due to the possibility of breaking something.

With the insane amount of sun here in Southern California, using it to grow an amazing garden and lawn is a good idea. This will keep your home looking vibrant and well-maintained at all times. Pulling weeds and getting rid of twigs is a great and simple way to start off. Watering and cutting your lawn is an obvious way to improve the overall appearance of the home. Planting, and maintaining, nice flowers is a very effective way to catch the eyes of people as they pass by. The extent to which you go is up to you, and how much you would like to do.

A slightly subtler, yet effective, improvement can be made by replacing your mailbox. An old mailbox collects a lot of dirt and wears as time passes. You have many options available to you when choosing. If your intent is to sell your home, it would be best to go with something that is nice but not too niche in its styling.

Freshening your windows with nice cleaning can really get your home shining under the sun. It is important to clean both the inside and outside of the windows to get the full effect of the cleaning. Safety is very important when it comes to cleanings windows that are higher up. Be sure the ladder you use is secure before going up.

Though this may only apply to some homes, redoing the trim paint on the outside of your home will get it looking very fresh for the new season. Using colors that will accent the main color of your home is the way to go. If you plan on doing this yourself, be sure you take your time to do a good job. A sloppy job will only take away the appeal of your home.

These simple ways to increase your home’s curbside appeal will absolutely get more people looking at your home as the bright summer approaches. Take your time and enjoy the process of making your home look suitable and appealing.
