Happy Thanksgiving from the Chernov Team to You!

The holidays are about multiple things simultaneously, but mostly it serves the simultaneous purposes of bringing family together to appreciate each other while also encouraging people to think about others who are in need. At the risk of sounding like a Sarah McLachlan commercial, many people don’t get to spend the holidays with their loved ones – for one reason or another that is not possible. It is unfortunate that these plights aren’t really focused on during the rest of the year, but at least during the holidays, we should all seek to help others less fortunate than us. At the Chernov Team we take pride on our high-quality service to our clients, but also take pride in giving back to our community. This article will briefly address 3 volunteer opportunities for Thanksgiving.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner at the LA Lounge.

On Thanksgiving (November 22, 2018) beginning at noon and ending around 6:00 p.m., the LA Lounge is seeking volunteers to assist in: (1) setting up the event; (2) greeting guests; (3) host the event itself; (4) serve food and beverages to the guests; (5) cleanup the event when everything is finished; and (6) other similar activities. The LA Lounge is providing a free thanksgiving dinner to the community, and providing a warm place to watch the Falcons square off against the Saints for Thanksgiving Night Football (Still “TNF”).

This Thanksgiving buffet will feature: turkey, ham, dressing, macaroni and cheese, and more... all prepared by celebrity chef Paul! If you are interested in volunteering for this event, contact the event organizer at [email protected] or (213) 278-4898. The location of the event can be found here.

NDCLA at St. Francis Center Thanksgiving Weekend

Running between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., the morning after Thanksgiving (November 23, 2018) the folks at the St. Francis Center are providing free breakfasts to the community, they anticipate between 200 and 300 people will attend. If you would like to volunteer for this, contact Eleanor Huntington at St. Francis Center.

The location of the event can be found here.

Thanksgiving In Venice Beach - Meeting on Basketball Courts in Venice Beach

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 10:30 a.m., Thanksgiving in Venice Beach will be doing what they have done for years; putting smiles on the faces of the less fortunate. Over the last half-decade, a large number of volunteers, with a wide range in ages, join together to honor the spirit of the holidays. These volunteers unite in a common goal of feeding, clothing, and providing toiletries to the less fortunate members of the Venice Beach community. Thanksgiving in Venice Beach regularly boasts between 300 and 350 volunteers every thanksgiving, and specifically caters to people living on the streets who cannot have Thanksgiving with their families. The location of this event can be found here.

While it is important to keep our goals and ambitions in mind throughout the year, it is equally important to remind people less fortunate than us that they are not alone. It is unfortunate that this is not the mentality year-round, but at least a few times every year we should embrace our shared humanity and assist people who are down on their luck. A simple act of kindness may mean nothing to you, but it could change someone else’s day. From all of us here at the Chernov Team, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
