A Guide for Homeowners: How to Hone Your Own Home to Perfection

If you have been following our blog, you have already received a significant amount of advice relating to home improvement. Combined with the fact that everybody and their mother has their advice as well, there’s a good chance that you have been inundated with home improvement advice since you signed your mortgage; regardless of whether you asked for that advice. Today is no different, here’s some more home improvement advice! After reading this article, you might become that person giving advice to everyone else. Without further ado, we give you today’s home improvement advice.

Don’t Underestimate the Value of a Fresh Coat of Paint

Is the style of your home outdated? Is the living room looking a bit drab? Feel like your curb appeal is lacking? Paint! Sometimes, a small paint job can take your house from looking so 2000 and late to looking like tomorrow’s next hot trend.

A new coat of paint isn’t just for aesthetic enhancements either; are your eaves in a state of disrepair (rot)? Is your house constantly the wrong temperature because outside air is getting through cracks around windows and doors? Is your metal patio furniture beginning to rust? Paint! It’s the easiest, most simple, and fastest method for forward thinking maintenance and home improvement.

Don’t Put Things Off to Tomorrow That You Could Do Today

If you are moving into a house, it is in your best interest to fix as much as possible before moving in. While it seems like common sense now, in the heat of the moment people forget that it’s much easier to fix things without furniture, rugs, and paintings in your way. Also, being completely fair, most people become a little complacent once they move in.

Beware Instant Gratification, Wait A Little While Before Beginning a Major Renovation

With the abundance of home renovation shows on the tube these days, many people view a home and immediately begin thinking of what renovations would really make their new home pop, like those guys on television; don’t do this. It would behoove you to live in your new home for a little while and get a feel for what needs to be changed to make a good home into your dream home. By spending time in your new home, you will develop a more utilitarian approach to your home renovation because you understand what needs to change for to optimize your use of the space inside the house; this is especially true for rooms that you use frequently – bathrooms, entrances, and kitchens. Why spend a huge amount of money on a gamble, when you can wait until your holding pocket rockets and can take the house (see what we did there?)

Here at the Chernov Team, we take pride in knowing about all things real estate. This certainly includes the small things like optimizing the space in your home and doing that requires a well-thought out plan paired with advice borne from years of experience. At the Chernov Team, we have those years of experience, and you have the requisite knowledge for how to optimize the space in your home. As we discover new tips and tricks for the savvy homeowner, we will share them with you right here, on the Chernov Team Blog!
