Gardens in Los Angeles You Can’t Miss Out On

It’s the time of year again, where the sun is shining, and the flowers are looking spectacular. Who are we kidding? It’s always that time of year in Los Angeles. Living in Los Angeles, we rarely take the opportunity to stop and smell the roses, and sometimes that is precisely what the soul needs. With that in mind, here are 3 spectacular gardens to check out on your free time.

  • The Huntington Library, Botanical Gardens

While the Huntington Library is well known for its staggering collection of books, which were given to the Library by Henry E. Huntington (it is a library of course), who wants to be stuck inside with their nose in a book when it’s just so pretty out?

The Botanical Gardens sport multiple acres of variously themed gardens, each a work of art. You may have never suspected that you were a fan of botany, but after a visit to the Botanical Gardens, you will wonder how you missed out on such beauty for so long.

  • Descanso Gardens

It is generally accepted that the best time to see various forms of Camellia is between mid-February and early May (this is around when they bloom). What’s better than seeing a handful of blooming roses? How about 34,000 roses comprised of 600 different varieties? The Descanso Gardens boasts 5 acres of roses, but they also have a large number of California native plants. This is a perfect place to visit with your family and appreciate California’s natural beauty.

  • Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Garden

Much like the Huntington Library Botanical Gardens, the Los Angeles Zoo also has a beautiful array of flowers in addition to a phenomenal zoo. While the flowers are not houses in a separate garden, the flowers found in various portions of the zoo itself conform with the geographic theme of each area. If you thought you had enjoyed all the Los Angeles Zoo had to offer, think again! The zoo was already a great opportunity to have an enjoyable and educational day with your family, now your children can learn about horticulture as well!
