Education is Key: Discussing the Top 2 Public Elementary Schools in Studio City

You’ve heard it a hundred times, real estate is all about “location, location, location,” and a big factor regarding the best location, is the school district a home is in. Studio City happens to be blessed with 2 of the best ranked public elementary schools in the San Fernando Valley. Here is quick look at some of the stats and what parents have to say.

Carpenter Community Charter: As far as Studio City home buying is concerned, being in the Carpenter School District has always been highly coveted. Carpenter, which has been around since 1924, has always been thought to be one of the best public elementary schools in the San Fernando Valley. The school is for grades K through 5 and has around 1,000 total students every year. Their teacher count is around 40 teachers, creating a teacher to student ratio of 1:25.

According to greatschools.org, Carpenter scores a 9 out of 10 overall, 10 out of 10 in test scores, and an 8 out of 10 in academic progress. It has 4 out of 5 stars, with 96 total reviews.

Positive reviews highlight: supportive teachers, cleanliness of the campus, the community feeling, and kids happy to go to school everyday.

Negative reviews mention: thinking is not outside the box, no creative thinking- teach towards standardize testing, crowded classes, location which creates traffic issues with pick up and drop off.

Servicing homes in both Valley Village and Studio City, Colfax scores just as high as Carpenter. According to greatschools.org, Colfax scores the same as Carpenter, with a 9 out of 10 overall, 10 out of 10 in test scores, and 8 out of 10 in academic progress. It has 4 out of 5 stars, with 148 total reviews. Colfax offers grades K-5, and has around 639 total student and around 26 teachers, a 1:25 ratio.

Positive reviews highlight: strong parental support, variety of extra curriculars, true “community feel.”

Negative reviews mention: school not able to facilitate children with special needs and overcrowded classrooms.
