Don’t Let Your Cookbooks Gobble Up Too Much Space

Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for what we have, but it’s also a time where it becomes abundantly clear you don’t actually have enough space for all your books (assuming it wasn’t clear already); when turkeys come to town, your cookbooks come out of their hiding spots. The fact of the matter, this author is told, is that you can’t just stack books willy-nilly all over the house. This article will discuss creative solutions to your over-capacity book collections.
Since most kitchen islands come with a wine rack, it’s a fairly simple DIY project to convert that wine rack into a bookshelf for your cookbooks; it has the added benefit of being easy to access while you are whipping up your concoctions in the kitchen. If your island doesn’t have a wine rack, it’s still pretty simple to add a bookshelf to it.
Another useful location for those cookbooks is above the fridge; that weird cubby that doesn’t appear to serve any purpose whatsoever. Consider removing any cover, so that the books can serve a decorative function as well. If that doesn’t sound appealing, you can always add wall racks to hold your books or retrofit a spice rack or two to serve as mini bookshelves.
Finally, wire baskets already do so much work for you in the kitchen; they hold everything you need, why not add holding books to the list? You can hang aforementioned wire baskets in out of the way places (securely fastened of course, if you’ve ever moved you know how much books can weigh) and put your go-to books there. Alternatively, fruit crates are a pretty snazzy alternative.
At the Chernov Team we understand that knowledge is power, and what contains more knowledge than books? In a roundabout way, knowing where to stash your books is powerful knowledge indeed. At the Chernov Team we know that whoever comes to the table, in this case the dinner table, leaves with the most; the Chernov Team leaves every table with the most. Happy Thanksgiving!
