It is perfectly normal for people to be curious about the history of where they live, it makes for a fun conversation piece. Dennis Chernov and the Chernov Team are dedicated to serving the Studio City area and are happy to share the area’s progressive history.
Studio City was initially a portion of Rancho Ex-Mission San Fernando and was known as Laurelwood. Near the end of the 19th Century, the land was owned by James Boon Lankershim and 8 other individuals. Together, they created the Lankershim Ranch Land and Water Company.
In 1908, the city began construction of the Los Angeles Aqueduct. The water arrived in the San Fernando Valley 5 years later, which caused the real estate industry to surge in the region. Mack Sennett started construction of a new studio on 20 acres, which he received through a donation from the then land developer. This area came to be known as Studio City.
A major point of pride in the development of Studio City occurred in 1955 when Station 78 (the Studio City Fire Station) became the first fire station in the Los Angeles City Fire Department to become racially integrated.
Over time, Studio City became a center of commercial and recreational activity. Studio City’s quick access to multiple locations within the city of Los Angeles has made it an ideal location for individuals who want to enjoy all that the city of Los Angeles has to offer.
