THE FUTURE OF BUYING AND SELLING HOMES IS NEARLY HERE – A TECH-SAVVY REAL ESTATE TEAM IS A MUST HAVE IN THE POST- COVID-MARKET

For most people, COVID-19 will represent a paradigm shift; conversations about the past will differentiate between the pre-COVID-world and the post-COVID-world. We will get through this, just like we have gotten through other disaster; but the fact remains that the world on the other side of this will be both familiar and foreign simultaneously. Not every difference is reality shattering, but it is a difference nonetheless; how we buy and sell homes is very likely to morph into some hybrid of pre-COVID practices and post-COVID practices.

The most notable change in how we buy and sell homes will involve how much face-to-face time we spend with people throughout the process. Pre-COVID, real estate transactions involved a lot of in-person interactions: roundtable closings, in-person house tours, and handshake agreements. Post-COVID, we will see significant changes in the process – specifically, some of the COVID-era precautions will remain well-after the COVID-era has passed.

Agents will need to become more tech-savvy, as the COVID-era has forced us all to embrace technology to a greater degree than before. Because in-person home visits are severely limited, it is more important than ever to make the home’s online presence more appealing. As such, high-quality listing photos, through property descriptions, and virtual tours are likely to be increasingly important over time.

In truth, many homes are now being purchased before the buyer ever steps one foot inside the home; this is only possible where the seller’s agent has done a thorough job of presenting the home in the best light using technology.
