If you look at the numbers, COVID-19 remains a serious issue. Given that most experts believe we may see a second wave of the virus in the fall, it makes sense that homeowners are a little hesitant to have multiple people traipsing through their homes for any reason, much less an optional reason like renovation or home improvement. However, we’re lucky enough to live in 2020 which has some pretty nifty technology available. Today’s topic? Virtual designers, decorators, and renovators.
- Color Consultants Online
Some of us just can’t seem to understand color schemes. If you’re one of those people, you’re not alone. Be it choosing the right color of paint for your quarantine project of painting the rooms in your house, or choosing the trim on a window, there are virtual experts who can help you with that. For the cost of between $200 and $400 per hour, an expert will take a video tour of your home, suggest color schemes, and provide you with computer renderings of what your rooms will look like if you take their advice. If that is too pricey, many paint companies offer free consultations, but heavily push their product (that doesn’t mean their product is bad, it just means their opinion will be slightly skewed).
- Interior Designers Online
Every interior designer has their own process, but the web-based interior designer will generally want to take a virtual tour of your home, view photos of various rooms from multiple angles, and get a sense of what “vibe” you’re looking for. The web-based interior designer will review everything, and then recommend specific furniture, furniture placement, color schemes, etc., based on the budget and vision you provided them with. For about $300, you can receive a professional review, and some websites allow designers to bid for your business at around $75 per hour. Much like color consultants, some furniture companies will offer free advice.
- Organizational Experts Online
Let’s face it, the vast majority of us are not as organized as we’d like to be there always seemed to be clutter. Luckily, there are experts whose focus is on helping homeowners organize their things, which creates a much larger feel to rooms. Once again, your consultant will want a virtual tour of your home, focusing on the areas that seem to be perpetually cluttered. For about $120 per hour, your online consultant will discuss what parts of your organizational scheme is working, and what strategies need to be thrown out along with your clutter. From there, the organizational expert will suggest items and strategies for maintaining a clutter-free home; some will even schedule follow-up virtual meetings to keep you on track. Once again, some companies offer free consultations, but they will push their products on you.
Outside of the virtual world, the Chernov Team has preferred vendors who are also able to provide all of these services and we are happy to coordinate consultations for any of our clients.
At the Chernov Team we understand that knowledge is power, and knowledge of how to utilize the technology available to us in 2020 to improve our homes is powerful knowledge indeed.
