Why It’s Important to Consider the School District You Move Into

Whether you have children or are hoping to have children in the future, their education is likely very important to you. The location of the home you buy will determine what school district your child will be a part of. School districts vary in quality, so making sure you find one that you are willing to let your children attend should be extremely important to you.

For most public schools, living within the school boundaries is required, meaning your child will not be able to attend if you are outside of those boundaries. If you have your eyes set on a school that you would like your child to attend, you should try to move within a close proximity to the school.

Although most public schools have boundaries, public charter schools allow you to enroll regardless of where you may live. These enroll students use a lottery system based on how many spaces they have available. While public charter schools may not have any residential restrictions, living near the school is still important. Living too far can make it challenging to bring your kids to and from school.

Carpenter Community Charter is a top school located here in Studio City. It is a public elementary school that spans from kindergarten to the 5th grade. They enroll students using a combination of school boundaries, for those who are residents, and a lottery, for those who are not.
School districts also influence the price of the homes around them. People are often willing to pay more for a home due to having excellent schools around. Homes in good school districts cost more so you will need to take your budget into consideration. You may have to settle for another school district if you cannot afford to move into a home that is out of your budget.

A good school district is also a great way to protect the value of your home. Even when the housing market is down, a good school district could increase the value of all the homes around it. Buying a home within a good school district is a much safer bet than a home that it not. Parents will always want to buy into the best schools they can for their kids. Having good schools around your home will be a great benefit when the time to sell comes around.

Whether you're a parent, you're planning to have children in the future, or you don't want children, school districts greatly affect the value of your home. You should take them into consideration when looking into buying your next home.
