HOW TO HAVE A SAFE THANKSGIVING GATHERING IN THE COVID ERA

Unfortunately, COVID is making a serious comeback in the United States, just in time for the holiday season. After the year we’ve had, nothing sounds better than spending the holidays with friends and family, but it’s incumbent on us to make sure we prioritize safety over desires. In short, it’s safest if you celebrate virtually this year, but it’s unlikely that everyone will go that route. This article will briefly discuss how to make the most of your holidays in the midst of a pandemic.

It is imperative that you get tested beforehand if you have attend a gathering. It’s equally important that all guests adopt extra safe behavior for the 14 days prior (so a few days ago if you’re thinking about Thanksgiving) to the meeting to decrease the chances of false negatives. To the false negative point, guests should still seek to distance themselves and wear masks just in case. It doesn’t sound like a lot of fun but sending grandma to the hospital will be a lot less fun.

Next, you’re going to want to look over your invitation list and determine who really needs to be there. Sure, you love your coworkers, but they’re not necessary; your gathering should be as small as possible. Moreover, this small group should have dinner outside. Lucky for us, we live in an area where outside is almost always perfect so we should take advantage of that.

Finally, spend the money to get the essentials for guests; sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and masks will go a long way towards keeping the people who matter most to you safe.

At the Chernov Team we understand that knowledge is power, and knowledge of how to have a happy Thanksgiving without exposing the people you care about to unnecessary risk is powerful knowledge indeed. At the Chernov Team we know that whoever comes to the table most prepared leaves with the most, and the Chernov Team always leaves the table with the most.
